Aitutaki Activities

Aitutaki Other Activities

With its big beautiful blue lagoon, Aitutaki offers travelers plenty of other activities to enjoy, besides snorkeling and diving. The beaches here are gorgeous, but unfortunately too shallow to swim in. However, some other activities on Aitutaki you can indulge in include sunbathing, kayaking, exploring the lagoon via reef runners, fishing and golfing. Another great way to spend your time on Aitutaki is to go on a self-exploratory trip around the main island and take in the interesting sights and sounds.

Aitutaki is the ideal place to just lie back and enjoy the surrounding scenery. A stunning little island with many picturesque surrounding motu, Aitutaki is a wonderful destination to just chill out and relax. Enjoy sunbathing on the beach here or take a trip to any of the nearby motu for some downtime to unwind and be by yourself or with your loved ones.

Kayaking Aitutaki

Kayaking on Aitutaki is excellent, with plenty of opportunities in the lagoon to go out by yourself. And with a number of motu to explore, each more lovely than the next, kayaking is a fun way to spend an afternoon. Reef runners are also available for hire as well. Some of these boats have transparent bottoms, which allow you to enjoy the wealth of marine life as you travel from motu to motu.

Fishing Aitutaki

Fishing is quite popular on Aitutaki. Outside the lagoon you can catch plenty of big game fish like marlin, tuna and wahoo, while inside the lagoon there are lots of smaller fish to reel in. On the main island of Aitutaki you can find plenty of game fishing tour operators all over the place. Tour prices include fishing gear and don’t forget to ask for a lifejacket if you are heading out into the open seas. Aitutaki Sea Charters and Matriki Adventures are two well known fishing tour companies on the island.

Golfing Aitutaki

For the avid golfer, Aitutaki has a lovely golf course where you can practice your swing. Located near the airstrip, the Aitutaki Golf Course rents clubs for around NZ$ 10, while the green fees are NZ$ 20.
